This image shows the intensity of sunlight received at Earth’s surface in watts per square meter (W/m 2 ).
The areas in red receive the most intense sunlight; the areas in blue receive the weakest sunlight.
Latitude, altitude, and cloudiness are important factors that control the intensity of sunlight reaching the surface.
