Jizzax Province in eastern Uzbekistan is one of the main agricultural regions of the country. Uzbekistan is the world's sixth largest producer and second-largest exporter of cotton; and corn accounts for the next largest crop grown. Being landlocked in central Asia, the country relies on agricultural exports, and exports of gold, natural gas, coal, copper, oil, and uranium for economic survival. The ASTER image was acquired 29 August, 2003, covers an area of 46.3 x 50.6 km, and is located near 40.3 degrees north latitude, 68.7 degrees east longitude.
