인도의 IT산업에 관해서 (Information Technolgy Industry)

넓은 의미로서의 IT관련업은 2006년 전체 GDP의 40%까지 차지하고, IT수출의 30%를 차지하며, 고용의 25%를 차지한다고 합니다. (어디까지나 광의의 의미로서 말할때 IT관련업 다 포함할때 통계입니다)

In 2010-11, annual revenues from IT-BPO sector is estimated to have grown over US$76 billion compared to China with $35.76 billion and Philippines with $8.85 billion. India's outsourcing industry is expected to increase to US$225 billion by 2020. 

인도의 IT산업 총액은 중국의 두배이고, 필리핀의 8배가 넘습니다.

인도의 IT산업은 뭄바이(봄베이)지역에서 시작되었습니다. 1967년도에 뭄바이에 시작하고(Tata Group주도) 1973년 SEEPZ라는 IT특구를 만듭니다 
1980년대 까지는 SEEPZ에서 IT관련 산업 수출품의 80%가 생산 됩니다.

현재는 인도의 실리콘밸리라 불리는 방갈로르에서 전체 IT수출품의 33%가 생산됩니다. 그리고 IT선도 기업들이 입지하기 꿈꾸는 도시이기도 하지요.

방갈로르 다음가는 IT도시는 첸나이 입니다.
첸나이는 IT산업에서 No.2 도시입니다. 현재의 많은 IT기업들이 여기서 발전해서 지금은 방갈로르로 많이 이주한 듯 합니다.

앞에서도 말씀드렸 듯이 뭄바이는 IT산업의 할아버지의 할아버지가 되는 도시입니다.



인도의 IT산업과 관련된 자료를 읽다보면 'BPO'라는 단어가 심심치 않게 자주 나오는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.
바로 위의 그래프에서도 IT분야 3대분야가, 내수용, 수출용, 그리고 BPO 라고 나오지요

Business process outsourcing (BPO) is a subset of outsourcing that involves the contracting of the operations and responsibilities of specific business functions (or processes) to a third-party service provider. Originally, this was associated with manufacturing firms, such as Coca Cola that outsourced large segments of its supply chain. In the contemporary context, it is primarily used to refer to the outsourcing of business processing services to an outside firm, replacing in-house services with labor from an outside firm.

Given the proximity of BPO to the information technology industry, it is also categorized as an information technology enabled service or ITES. Knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and legal process outsourcing (LPO) are some of the sub-segments of business process outsourcing industry.

인도 IT산업에서 말하는 BPO는 ITES, KPO, LPO를 다 합쳐서 말하는 것으로
한마디로 쉽게 정의하면 Outsourcing 인 것 입니다.

인도의 IT하면 컴퓨터나 모바일기계 등만 생각하기 쉽지만,
BPO분야의 LPO분야 같은 경우는 우리가 생각하는 기계로서의 IT분야가 아닌 것입니다.

인도 IT industry 성장의 큰 비결중 하나가 영어사용이라는 것이지요.
인도 인구의 12%정도가 영어를 사용할 수 있다고 합니다.
인도의 IT종사자 중에서도 정예의 멤버 약 50만명중 25-30%가 영어와 IT Technology가 동시에 뛰어나다고 하는군요.

8	Jaipur	This rapidly growing industrial hub houses a lot of IT/ITES and BPO giants. Genpact, Connexions IT services, Deutsche Bank and EXL BPO, Infosyss, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro are here. There are plans to build the largest IT SEZ in India by Mahindra under the Mahindra World City.
